ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, has congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud on the second anniversary of his accession to the throne of Saudi Arabia.
Sheikh Mohammed described the occasion as important and historic. “Today is the second anniversary of the accession of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the throne in the Kingdom. It is an important and historic occasion that had profound meanings and results.
“The efforts being exerted by the Kingdom to address crucial issues facing the Arab world and the Muslim world do enhance hopes of overcoming these issues, thanks to the wisdom and vision of King Salman,” he said.
“The UAE and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia go hand in hand towards serving common strategic interests, supporting the integration of GCC states, achieving stability and spreading peace in our region and the entire world,” Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed said according to Wam, the state news agency.
Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council, also congratulated the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on the occasion of the second anniversary of King Salman’s accession to the throne.
“Under the leadership of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Kingdom continues to make more historic achievements, and further prosperity for its people,” Sheikh Hazza said on his official account on Twitter.

Also on December 7 to 9, the third edition of the Gulf Car Festival (www.gulfcarfestival.com) will take over Dubai Festival City Mall, a new venue for the event. Last year's festival brought together about 900 cars worth more than Dh300 million from across the Emirates and wider Gulf region – and that first figure is set to swell by several hundred this time around, with between 1,000 and 1,200 cars expected. The first day is themed around American muscle; the second centres on supercars, exotics, European cars and classics; and the final day will major in JDM (Japanese domestic market) cars, tuned vehicles and trucks. Individuals and car clubs can register their vehicles, although the festival isn’t all static displays, with stunt drifting, a rev battle, car pulls and a burnout competition.

How the UAE gratuity payment is calculated now
Employees leaving an organisation are entitled to an end-of-service gratuity after completing at least one year of service.
The tenure is calculated on the number of days worked and does not include lengthy leave periods, such as a sabbatical. If you have worked for a company between one and five years, you are paid 21 days of pay based on your final basic salary. After five years, however, you are entitled to 30 days of pay. The total lump sum you receive is based on the duration of your employment.
1. For those who have worked between one and five years, on a basic salary of Dh10,000 (calculation based on 30 days):
a. Dh10,000 ÷ 30 = Dh333.33. Your daily wage is Dh333.33
b. Dh333.33 x 21 = Dh7,000. So 21 days salary equates to Dh7,000 in gratuity entitlement for each year of service. Multiply this figure for every year of service up to five years.
2. For those who have worked more than five years
c. 333.33 x 30 = Dh10,000. So 30 days’ salary is Dh10,000 in gratuity entitlement for each year of service.
Note: The maximum figure cannot exceed two years total salary figure.
