Jeddah // A UAE delegation led by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed made a short visit to Saudi Arabia on Saturday to meet with King Abdullah.
Sheikh Mohammed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, arrived in Jeddah, accompanied by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
They were welcomed at the King Abdulaziz International Airport by Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of National Guard, and UAE Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohammed Saeed Mohammed Al Dhaheri.
Sheikh Mohammed and King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz discussed cooperation and “regional and international developments of common interest”, according to a statement on state news agency Wam.
During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed conveyed the greetings of President Sheikh Khalifa and his best wishes for good health for King Abdullah and for continuous prosperity and progress for Saudi Arabia, said Wam.
The Crown Prince said relations between the UAE and Saudi Arabia were strong and there was a mutual interest in strengthening, advancing and developing those relations.
Sheikh Mohammed also hailed the leading role and vision of the king and said he valued the his recent statements about the Israeli offensive in Gaza, the plight of the Palestinian people, and over the threat posed by extremism and terrorism in the region.
The talks included regional developments, the most important of which is the Palestinian cause and Israeli aggression on Gaza, as well as ways of putting an end to the bloodshed, Wam reported.
Sheikh Mohammed left Jeddah on the same day, and the delegation was seen off by Prince Miteb and a number of officials.
