Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed meets Kazakh president

ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, met on Thursday with President Nursultan Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan, who is currently on a private visit to the UAE.

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed President Nazarbayev and his delegation, and discussed bilateral ties with him and ways to enhance them.

The meeting, attended by Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, also touched on the friendly relations between the two countries and means to strengthen co-operation in economic, commercial, investment, development and cultural fields.

The UAE, under the leadership of President Sheikh Khalifa, is working to deepen ties of co-operation with Kazakhstan, Sheikh Mohammed said.

President Nazarbayev said he was pleased to visit the UAE and witness the progress it had made. His country is looking forward to furthering friendship and co-operation, he added.

During the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed and President Nazarbayev discussed the latest regional and international developments, as well as topics of mutual interest, reported Wam, the state news agency.

Also on Thursday, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met Priti Patel, British Secretary of State for International Development, and her delegation.

The meeting touched on means for furthering bilateral ties and co-operation in the development sector. The two sides also exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues of mutual interest.

Ms Patel praised her country’s relations with the UAE.

The meeting was attended by Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs.
