Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, on Monday reviewed the progress of the initiative Amnetak Beladak, or Your Country, Your Responsibility.
At a Sea Palace barza, Sheikh Mohamed was shown examples of the souvenirs given to newborn Emiratis, encouraging them to be outstanding citizens.
A representative from the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship said more than 40,000 souvenirs had been distributed since the launch of the initiative.
Newborn Emiratis receive a commemorative coin embossed with an image of Sheikh Zayed, and a personal letter from Sheikh Mohamed congratulating the new parents and calling on the child to love their country and instil in themselves the values demonstrated by the Founding Father.
The coin comes in a wooden box addressed to "Zayed's children" and is engraved with a ghaf, the local tree that is the inspiration for the Year of Tolerance logo.
The commemorative coin is given to UAE citizens with family books after they complete passport procedures.
On Monday, Sheikh Mohamed met some of the families whose children received the Amnetak Beladak souvenir at Al Bahar Palace in Abu Dhabi.
"Today I was delighted to meet the team from Amnetak Beladak," Sheikh Mohamed said on Twitter.
"We are keen to consolidate the values of the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, and his inspiring legacy among our children, which are love, dedication, work, giving and coexistence, which established the UAE's dignity, security and prosperity."

Although social media can be harmful to our mental health, paradoxically, one of the antidotes comes with the many social-media accounts devoted to normalising mental-health struggles. With Hope UAE is one of them.
The group, which has about 3,600 followers, was started three years ago by five Emirati women to address the stigma surrounding the subject. Via Instagram, the group recently began featuring personal accounts by Emiratis. The posts are written under the hashtag #mymindmatters, along with a black-and-white photo of the subject holding the group’s signature red balloon.
“Depression is ugly,” says one of the users, Amani. “It paints everything around me and everything in me.”
Saaed, meanwhile, faces the daunting task of caring for four family members with psychological disorders. “I’ve had no support and no resources here to help me,” he says. “It has been, and still is, a one-man battle against the demons of fractured minds.”
In addition to With Hope UAE’s frank social-media presence, the group holds talks and workshops in Dubai. “Change takes time,” Reem Al Ali, vice chairman and a founding member of With Hope UAE, told The National earlier this year. “It won’t happen overnight, and it will take persistent and passionate people to bring about this change.”
