Safer driving measures discussed at Dealers Council meeting

A dealer's council meeting discussed the improvement of the products and services by the automotive industry and promoting safer driving.

The Ministry of Economy has unveiled a series of measures to promote safer driving on the roads.

At a meeting of the Dealers Council, which represents car dealerships in the country, Dr Hashem Al Nuaimy, head of consumer protection at the ministry of economy, outlined the new measures.

These included an awareness campaign featuring safety tips for drivers to follow on the roads.

Leaflets will be handed out at service stations detailing the safety advice.

Dr Al Nuaimy said: “Improving road safety goes well beyond educating motorists or imposing harsher fines on irresponsible drivers. Raising standards in garages and service centres is as critical as is our fight against counterfeit spare parts.”
