FUJAIRAH // An FNC candidate has been accused of insulting a Fujairah Hospital employee, the misdemeanours court was told.
Egyptian A S, 34, filed a complaint with police accusing Emirati S A, 45, of using foul language and making threats during a phone call to the hospital.
“He called me from a landline and told me I should stop harassing my female coworkers. He used inappropriate language with me and threatened me as well,” the Egyptian said.
The candidate admitted calling the complainant and advising him to stop harassing women at his workplace, but denied using inappropriate language.
A verdict is expected on Sunday.
Meanwhile, two male candidates in Fujairah withdrew from elections, the regional election panel said.
That leaves 36 candidates, seven of them women, to contest next month’s election to represent Fujairah in the FNC.
