An Emirati serviceman has died in Yemen, the General Command of the UAE Armed Forces announced on Sunday.
Sergeant Khalifa Hashel Al Mesmari died while carrying out his duties as part of the Saudi-led Arab Coalition to back the legitimate government in Yemen.
The General Command of the UAE Armed Forces offered its condolences to Al Mesmari's family, praying to God that his soul rest in eternal peace.
No further details were released.
On Saturday, a member of Abu Dhabi's ruling family who was injured in a helicopter crash in Yemen returned to the UAE after months of medical treatment in Germany.
Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, 27, was injured in a helicopter crash in Yemen’s Shabwa province in August last year, where the UAE is leading efforts to combat Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula. Two other Emirati soldiers were also injured in the crash, while four were killed.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, payed tribute to Sheikh Zayed’s return.
