DUBAI // The chief executive of Dubai Women Establishment hosted a session at a global forum held in France.

Shamsa Saleh, who is also the general coordinator of the UAE Gender Balance Council, delivered a session about the achievements of the council and how the country is setting a precedent for women’s empowerment in the region.

Emirati women hold 66 per cent of public-sector jobs and 30 per cent of decision-making positions in the government sector, Ms Saleh said, according to the state news agency, Wam.

She spoke at the Women’s Forum Global Meeting in Deauville, which began Thursday and ends Friday.

The council was established earlier this year by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed is chairwoman of the council as well as president of Dubai Women Establishment.
