Dubai has appointed its first female police officer to manage shifts at a police station.

Lt Nouf Ahli will serve as a general duty officer at Naif Police Station.

She was among the first batch of women to graduate from Dubai Police Academy.

“I trained at the Naif Police Station and learnt many things, such as management, security, forensics and law,” she said.

“Then I started training in the field [to become] a duty officer.”

Lt Ahli said she wanted to prove herself because there were so few women in the field.

“I wanted to seek a new challenge,” she said.

“I believed that a woman could take on that responsibility, especially after the training and support I’ve received at the Police Academy and Naif Station.”

Dubai Police said Lt Ahli’s new role was “an achievement”.

“Dubai Police has a highly qualified female force and has been investing in training its cadets on the latest advancements in policing,” said Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, assistant commander-in-chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police.
