The UAE has sent 11 tons worth of aid in medical supplies to Ukraine to support efforts to combat the coronavirus, benefiting some 10,000 healthcare professionals.

"This provision of aid by the UAE comes as a gesture of solidarity with countries seeking to bolster their fight against Covid-19," said Salem Ahmed Al Kaabi, UAE Ambassador to Ukraine.

"The UAE stands with the leadership and people of Ukraine during this challenging moment that the international community must face as a united front,"

The UAE is partnering with countries around the world to stop the spread of the virus.

The plane carrying the aid also repatriated 113 Ukrainians in the UAE.

Mr Al Kaabi said the UAE would continue to work with countries affected by the coronavirus.
