DUBAI // Google yesterday declined to comment on whether calls to boycott the internet search engine over the anti-Islam YouTube film had led to a drop in users.
The 15-minute video, Innocence of Muslims,uploaded to YouTube earlier this month, insults the Prophet Mohammed.
It led to protests by Muslims around the world, and calls for the film to be removed from YouTube. Many of the protests have turned violent with dozens of deaths being reported.
Chain emails have been circulating calling on Muslims to boycott YouTube and Google.
One email called for a boycott for yesterday and today by all the Muslims around the world - estimated to be about 2 billion - claiming it would cost the company US$210 million (Dh771m).
A spokesman for Google would say only that "we believe in everyone's right to express themselves freely, but at the same time, we know that users are aware of the role Google plays to give them universal access to information".

Another way to earn air miles
