DUBAI // A 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted on her way to buy bread, a court was told.
On November 22 last year, the Syrian youngster and her sister were sent by her father to a supermarket in Naif.
“Minutes later we heard our daughters scream, we looked from the window and saw them running away from a man,” the father said.
“One of our daughters said she was assaulted and took us to the back of the building where the defendant was,” said the 37-year-old, who restrained the Pakistani until police arrived.
The defendant confessed to a charge of sexual assault during interrogations, but denied it in Dubai Criminal Court.
A verdict is expected on February 19.
