DUBAI // A gang of four men broke into a warehouse and stole laptops worth more than Dh400,000, a Dubai Court heard.
Prosecutors said Afghans GT, 27, GA, 23, MR, 25, and SM, 20, made off with 286 laptops from the raid on a warehouse in Al Raffa on May 8 last year. The computers were then sold to Pakistanis MK 36, and AA, 24, for Dh1,000 each.
Emirati police officer TM, 31, said that after investigations the men were arrested in the Naif neighbourhood.
GA told prosecutors that he received a call telling him to meet the others near the warehouse. MR used tools to break the lock while the rest of the gang kept watch outside.
“I received Dh600 for my role in the theft,” GA said.
MK, a driver, used a lorry to transport the laptops to AA. Prosecutors said the stolen computers were worth Dh456,624.
Police found some of the laptops at a shop were AA works.
At Dubai Criminal Court, GT, GA, and MR entered pleas of not guilty to charges of theft and destruction of private property. SM did not appear in court to enter a plea to the same charges.
MK and AA did not appear to enter a plea to a charge of possession of stolen property.
The next hearing is set for April 27.
