SHARJAH // A gang of alleged car thieves has been arrested in a raid on a farm in Al Dhaid, police have said.
Officers from Sharjah raided the building that was being used to dismantle stolen cars on Sunday. A video showing the operation has been released on the Sharjah Police’s YouTube channel.
According to police, the gang struck a deal with a security guard to use the farm without the knowledge of its owner. The guard was paid between Dh2,000 and Dh4,000 per day by the gang who would bring in stolen cars and break them into pieces before selling the parts to car dealers in Sharjah.
The plates and other serial numbers would then be destroyed so police would not be able to trace the stolen parts.
In the video officers are shown arresting six Asian men.
