RAS AL KHAIMAH // A gang has been arrested for attempting to sell counterfeit money with a face value of US$1.5 million, in Ras Al Khaimah.

The four men – all from Arab countries – sought buyers for the fake notes at a price of Dh1m, according to Maj Mohammed Al Qasimi, head of CID at RAK Police.

Police received a tip-off about the men and set up a sting operation.

“We reached them through a member of the group who expressed his desire to buy the full amount,” said Maj Al Qasimi.

An undercover officer agreed to meet the men to discuss the sale and when they did, police arrested them with the fake bills.

The gang have been transferred to prosecutors for charges to be brought against them.
