From UAE to US: Burj Khalifa lit up in celebration of Independence Day

Dubai's Burj Khalifa was lit up in red, white and blue in celebration of American Independence Day.

The world's tallest building was emblazoned with the colours of the United States flag on Thursday evening in homage to the holiday.

Independence Day is marked each year on July 4, the milestone date when the country declared itself free from British rule back in 1776.

UAE leaders offered their congratulations to US President Donald Trump in honour of the occasion.

UAE President Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, all sent messages of support from the Emirates to the United States.
