Friday sermon: Next 10 days perfect opportunity for pardons

Allah has made the next 10 days of the year as one’s best opportunity to receive pardons, forgiveness and unlimited rewards, this week’s Friday sermon will preach.

ABU DHABI // Allah has made the next 10 days of the year as one’s best opportunity to receive pardons, forgiveness and unlimited rewards, Friday’s sermon will say.

As the Quran says: “Thy Lord creates what He wills and chooses.”

“So, Allah has made Ramadan as the high season for proving one’s faith and generosity. He then chose out of it the final 10 days to be the best days of all times and specialised it with extended benefits ... for worshippers and do-gooders to increase, and for those who have shortcomings to catch up,” the sermon will say.

Therefore, Muslims should work hard to receive their share of the blessings and forgiveness in this period.

“A Muslim is between two terms, a term that passed and he does not know what Allah will do with, and the remaining term (of his life), which he does not know what Allah will destiny him by, so the person should take from his self to his self,” the sermon will say. “Ramadan is almost over ... and the early Muslims used to console one another when the month of blessings was coming to its end.”

Moreover, the last 10 days contain the Night of Destiny (Laylat Al Qadr).

It is believed this was the night when the Quran was revealed, hence the rewards of worship on this night are worth more than during 1,000 months. The exact date of Laylat Al Qadr was not revealed, the Prophet Mohammed mentioned only that it was in the last 10 days of Ramadan.

The sermon concludes that this is an advantage and worshippers must be especially pious throughout the 10 days, rather than just on one night.
