Friday sermon: Follow Allah's commands to gain stability

Be grateful to Allah for living in a stable and secure country, this week's sermon tells worshippers.

"One of the pressing needs of all creatures is stability," it says.

The sermon cites a verse from the Quran in which the Prophet Ibrahim says: "My Lord, make this a secure city and provide its people with fruits - whoever of them believes in Allah and the Last Day."

Allah himself mentioned that security was a reward from Him to people such as the tribe of Sabaa.

"There was for the tribe of Sabaa in their dwelling place a sign: two fields of gardens on the right and on the left. They were told: 'Eat from the provisions of your Lord and be grateful to Him. A good land have you, and a forgiving Lord'," says another verse.

For stability, worshippers should follow Allah's commands.

"They who believe and do not mix their belief with injustice - those will have security and they are rightly guided," says the Quran.

Allah should be thanked for providing security, as should others who contribute towards it.

"If anyone does you a kindness, recompense him; but if you have not the means to do so, pray for him until you feel that you have compensated him," says the Prophet Mohammed in a Hadith.

"In this context, we have to thank Allah and our leaders who have devoted themselves to obeying their Lord, building the land, and offering the means for good living to their people," the sermon ends.
