The many times Allah showed his support to the Prophet Mohammed will be highlighted by today’s sermon.
It cites the Adduha chapter and how Allah comforted the Prophet after His revelations had been delayed for some days.
“When the revelations stopped the Prophet fell ill, and one woman even said to him, ‘O Mohammed, I do not see but that your Satan has left you’,” the sermon says.
“Thereupon the verses were revealed saying: ‘By the forenoon, and by the night when it darkens (or is still); Your Lord has not forsaken you, nor hated you’.”
The verse reassured the Prophet of Allah’s love.
“It openly states that Allah did not desert him but wanted to prove to people that He alone commands revelations,” the sermon says. “The chapter continues to promise people that: ‘the hereafter is better for you than the first life’.
“In light of this spirit, our Prophet was less after life pleasures and was known for his self-denial. So when he had to choose, as his life drew to an end, between eternity on Earth or joining his Lord, he went for the latter.”
The chapter also promotes the care of orphans.
“Did He not find thee an orphan and protect thee, did He not find thee wandering and direct thee? Did He not find thee destitute and enrich thee?
"Therefore the orphan oppress not, Therefore the beggar drive not away, Therefore of the bounty of thy Lord be thy discourse."
