Fourteen swords among weapons seized at shop in Sharjah

Twenty-one knives and 14 swords were seized from the shop in Al Dhaid.

A shop in Al Dhaid believed to have sold swords and knives used in recent assaults was raided by inspectors yesterday.

Twenty-one knives and 14 swords were seized from the store, which was licensed only to sell hardware materials, said Saleem Saeed Al Tunaiji, director of the operations department at Al Dhaid Municipality.

He said the authority was carrying out an intensive campaign throughout the region to stop the sale of bladed weapons.

Long swords, sharp serrated daggers, machetes, switchblades and bayonets, are all banned in the emirate.
