Four due in Dubai court over murder and acid attacks

DUBAI// Four men are due to appear in the Dubai Criminal Court for allegedly stabbing a 25-year-old man to death and burning three others with acid.

The men were arrested shortly after the incident on March 16 last year in Al Warqa and were referred to prosecutors.

Investigations revealed that Emirati A A A died in a fight in the early hours of the morning. The victim’s friends A A M, 23, and F M A, 24, as well as a third, unidentified, man, were taken to Rashid Hospital with acid burns.

A A A’s father told prosecutors that his son had just returned home from visiting his fiancee when the four men asked to meet him to settle an old dispute. But A A A, who had planned to marry in May last year, was attacked with swords while his friends had acid poured on them.

A A A died on the way to hospital.

Prosecutors charged the four defendants, whose names were not in records, with premeditated murder and physical assault.

A date for a first hearing will be determined soon.
