Food assistance was distributed to needy families and people with special needs in Al Soum in the Hadramaut Governorate in Yemen on Thursday.
The Emirates Red Crescent's (ERC) aid included basic food supplies for each family, which is part of the organisation's efforts to alleviate suffering of the area's population.
Abdul Aziz Al Jaberi, representative of the ERC team said that it provides relief and humanitarian support for the people of Yemen in the liberated areas to bring back normalcy and lessen burdens on the population, while meeting their necessary humanitarian needs.
Last week, the ERC distributed school bags to students of two schools in the Tarim Directorate in Hadramaut, as part of the Year of Giving Initiative launched by UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The assistance is part of a series of projects from the ERC in the educational field along with other programmes to prepare an educated generation, able to build a new Yemen that is free from wars and crises.
Last month, the organisation signed an agreement for a project to supply pumps and pipes to connect two artesian wells to the main water well in Al Odaiba in Ghayl Ba Wazir in Hadramaut to collect water for use in local services and production.
