Sheikhs and dignitaries joined hundreds of spectators for the military demonstration Union Fortress 6 in Ras Al Khaimah this weekend.
Families watched how different branches of the UAE Armed Forces would respond to emergency situations on land, sky and sea during the powerful demonstration in the north RAK area of Jazirat Al Hamra.
The military show featured all branches of the UAE Armed Forces, focusing on the response force of the Presidential Guard as the ground force, supported by the Joint Aviation Command, Navy, Air Force, Air Defence and Army.
Sheikh Saud bin Saqr, the Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah and Supreme Council member, attended with his son and RAK Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud.
“The parade highlighted the world-class tactical and strategic professionalism of brave men and women in uniform as they confronted a very real potential maritime threat,” state news agency WAM reported.
Military demonstrations have become increasingly popular since the introduction of mandatory National Service in 2014.
Public displays of support for the military have increased during this period, with monuments dedicated to lost soldiers and children's military uniforms becoming common for National Day celebrations at some schools.
