A fire broke out in workers’ accommodation at Al Hamra in the Western Region on Friday.
Civil Defence units extinguished the blaze, which broke in a group of 50 caravans, said state news agency Wam. No injuries were reported.
Lt Col Mohammed Abdul Jalil Al Ansari, director general of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence, said the cause of the fire was not known, but investigations were under way.
He urged contractors and property owners to follow safety precautions when using caravans on construction sites.
Lt Col Al Ansari said the key to preventing fires was maintaining a safe distance between caravans, ensuring they were made of fire-resistant materials, and that they were not used for storage purposes.
He stressed that it was important to provide workers with proper fire-safety training.
