DUBAI // A fire broke out in a residential building in Bur Dubai area on Thursday.
The fire in a building near the British embassy was reported to Dubai Civil Defence at about 3.20pm, a spokesman said.
“The residential building was evacuated as firefighters tackled the blaze,” he said. “The fire was completely under control at 3.40pm and the cooling process is ongoing.”
Witnesses saw paramedics treating some people for smoke inhalation and at least half a dozen emergency vehicles were seen in the area.
Many of the smoke inhalation cases were minor and two people were sent to Rashid Hospital, the spokesman said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated.
