A fire broke out on a building site behind Dubai Mall, in Downtown Dubai, on Wednesday.
Dubai Civil Defence said five of the 13 portable buildings on site went up in flames.
It is not yet clear how the fire started but an investigation is under way, said the authority, which added that there were no fatalities or injuries.
A report was received at 12.26pm and the fire was put out in about 30 minutes by three Civil Defence units from Al Satwa, Al Quoz and Al Manara.
