UAE weather: Winds whip up sand, lower visibility

Dusty weather with reduced visibility due to winds blowing dust over several areas in the country has been forecast throughout the weekend.

Poor visibility of less than 2,000metres was predicted by the National Centre for Meteorology and Seismology on Friday.

Fresh winds causing dust to blow over several areas including interior regions and exposed areas of the country, the centre said.

Fresh wind and rough sea were also forecast in the Oman Sea on Friday until Saturday evening.

The hazy and cloudy weather conditions would continue for two days with rainfall likely in some areas on Saturday and Sunday afternoon.

Humidity would increase at night and in the early morning over the coast and internal areas.

Temperatures would stay at a maximum of between 49°C and 42°C in interior areas, range between 39°C and 47°C in coastal areas and between 31°C and 40°C in the mountains.

Humidity levels could go up to between 60 to 80 per cent across the coast, 55 to 70 per cent in the interior regions and 30 to 60 in the mountains.

The lowest temperature in the country was 23.1°C recorded early on Friday.

The rules on fostering in the UAE

  • be Muslim, Emirati and be residing in the UAE
  • not be younger than 25 years old
  • not have been convicted of offences or crimes involving moral turpitude
  • be free of infectious diseases or psychological and mental disorders
  • have the ability to support its members and the foster child financially
  • undertake to treat and raise the child in a proper manner and take care of his or her health and well-being
  • A single, divorced or widowed Muslim Emirati female, residing in the UAE may apply to foster a child if she is at least 30 years old and able to support the child financially
