UAE weather: temperatures sink as a chilly mid-winter approaches

Forecasters also warn more rain could hit the UAE during the week

UAE temperatures have sunk as low 5°C on Saturday as the country enters the winter season.

The National Centre of Meteorolgy said the coldest temperature recorded overnight was 5.5°C at Jebel Jais.

It also warned that some areas in the east could expect more rain this week following last week's storms and floods.

A low-pressure system is circulating over the country and the NCM also cautioned of overcast skies, rough seas and rain.

Maxiumum temperatures could reach 29°C on Saturday, while winds may hit 40kph.

The past few weeks have seen a series of seasonal storms and floods.

All schools closed on Wednesday because of storms systems passing over the country with the Northern Emirates worst hit.
