UAE weather: hot weekend ahead with almost 40°C on Friday

Temperatures will rise heading in to the weekend. Friday will be "rather hot" during the day, the National Centre of Meteorology said on Wednesday.

The mercury will inch up each day and hit almost 38°C in Al Ain and Owtaid in the capital on Friday. It will be hottest in Al Dhaid, Sharjah, at 39°C.

The weather will be humid overnight across the country, raising the chances of early morning fog on Friday and Saturday. But the start of the working week will lead to a “significant drop” in temperatures, the NCM said.

Wednesday will be partly cloudy with temperatures dipping below 30°C in Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

Conditions on Thursday will be similar, with a further rise in temperatures during the day and an increase in humidity overnight.

Thursday's weather: Dubai and Abu Dhabi to reach 33°C, with rising humidity

It will be partly cloudy at times with a slight increase in temperatures. Conditions will be humid by night and Friday morning. Expect light to moderate winds with speeds of up to 30kph. The seas will be calm. In Dubai and Abu Dhabi, temperatures will rise to 33°C with a low of 22°C.

Friday's weather: 33-35°C in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, light winds and calm seas

It will be rather hot during the day and partly cloudy at times. Humidity levels will go up in the night and on Saturday morning. Forecasters predict light to moderate winds, with speeds between 10kph and 30kph. The seas will be calm. Dubai can expect highs of 33°C and lows of 24°C while temperatures in Abu Dhabi will rise to 35°C with lows of 23°C.

Saturday's weather: 35-36°C in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, rising winds and dust

The skies will be partly cloudy at times. It will be quite hot during the day and moderate winds of 15kph to 40kph will blow dust in the evening and night. The sea will become slightly rough by the evening in the Arabian Gulf but calm in the Gulf of Oman. It will get very warm in Dubai with temperatures peaking at 35°C, while Abu Dhabi will be one degree hotter.

Sunday's weather: temperatures to drop, high winds and dust

It will be dusty and partly cloudy at times with a significant drop in temperatures. Humidity will increase at night and on Monday morning over some eastern areas with mist likely.

Winds will reach a speed of 50kph at times over the sea, blowing dust and sand.

The sea is expected to become very rough at times in the Arabian Gulf and moderate to rough during the evening in the Gulf of Oman.

It will be slightly breezy in Dubai and Abu Dhabi as peak temperatures drop to 32°C and 31°C, respectively.
