UAE weather: Fog and dust warnings for motorists over weekend

Motorists are being warned to drive with caution during the weekend as fog and dust across the country will cause poor visibility on the road.

ABU DHABI // Motorists are being warned to drive with caution this weekend as fog and dust across the country will cause poor visibility on the roads.

Forecasters at the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology in Abu Dhabi said an increase in relative humidity is expected to cause fog over some coastal and inland areas on Thursday night and Friday morning.

Partially cloudy weather will prevail during Thursday with a slight increase in temperatures.

Coastal temperatures will reach a maximum of 28°C with inland highs slightly higher at 29°C. Lows will dip down to 9°C in the mountains while reaching 13°C inland and 16°C along the coast.

Winds will generally be light to moderate, becoming fresh westward over the sea by late night.

The Arabian Gulf will become rough by late night on Friday and the Sea of Oman will be slight to moderate.

Friday will have more partial cloud, which will increase at times over the western islands and coasts, potentially resulting in some light rain.

Winds will be moderate to fresh, especially over the sea, with a slight drop in temperatures.

Relative humidity will increase again on Friday night and Saturday morning over some interior areas, and fog or mist may form.

Similar conditions will persist into Saturday, although moderate to fresh winds, particularly over the sea, will result in a drop in temperatures.
