Heavy rain lashed parts of the UAE on Thursday with more expected over the weekend.
The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology (NCMS) forecast possible rains over some northern and eastern coastal areas of the country between 2.30 and 8.30pm, and the rain came in force.
Police closed the Yabsa bypass road in both directions due to landslides caused by thundering rain, accompanied by lightning, in Fujairah.
They urged the public to stay away from valleys and dams to avoid being swept away by flash-flooding.
NCMS shared videos of flooded wadis in Al Tawyeen area which experienced heavy rain earlier on Thursday.
Heavy, thundering rain also fell over Masafi in Fujairah and Dibba – Masafi road, Wadi Al Hilo in Sharjah, Shawka, Wadi Kob and Al Manaiaa in Ras Al Khaimah.
Forecasters warned that the conditions would cause poor visibility across exposed areas in Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah due to strong winds.
Rivers of water ran through Wadi Kob in southern Ras Al Khaimah on Thursday and over the road to Wadi Al Helo in Shawkah, Al Manaiaa.
Meanwhile temperatures will dip to 10°C in the mountains, climbing to 22°C. Along the coast temperatures will range between 18°C and 33°C with a range of 14°C to 34°C expected inland.
Humidity will increase overnight and into the early mornings on Friday and Saturday.
Beach-goers should be warned that seas will be moderate becoming rough with heavy clouds in both the Arabian Gulf and Sea of Oman.

Labour dispute

- Mashable: In 2005, Pete Cashmore created Mashable in Scotland when he was a teenager. The site was then a technology blog. Over the next few decades, Mr Cashmore has turned Mashable into a global media company.
- Oculus VR: Palmer Luckey founded Oculus VR in June 2012, when he was 19. In August that year, Oculus launched its Kickstarter campaign and raised more than $1 million in three days. Facebook bought Oculus for $2 billion two years later.
