A new park in al Barsha, Dubai, will open "soon", the municipality has announced.
The 0.21 square kilometre Pond Park in Barsha II will be the fourth to open in the area since last year. Almost half of its space will be taken up by lakes.
It has been designed to be accessible for people with special needs, and there will be parking space for nearly 100 vehicles.
The opening of the park brings the municipality closer to its end-of-year goal of providing 23.4 square metres of greenery per capita.
Earlier this year, the municipality said it would introduce 11 new residential and neighbourhood parks in 2012. The move was welcomed by residents as a boost for families.
The department, which designs and manages all Government-owned public parks in Dubai, opened seven parks in locations including al Barsha, Muhaisnah, Abu Hail and al Sufouh last month.
The parks are designed by Sally Ibrahim Saad, the principal landscape architect for Dubai Municipality, and a team of five others.
