As part of the Zero Carbon Police Force project, 35 Dubai police officers attended a three-day training programme on eco-friendly practices.

The move was taken after Dubai Carbon and Dubai Police agreed to develop initiatives for energy efficiency, fuel saving and carbon off-setting.

“The programme covers three-days of sessions on green credentials for Dubai Police,” said Waleed Salman, chairman of Dubai Carbon. “It is unheard off for a police force to try and lower its carbon footprint, and, hence, we will spare no effort in helping the local authority to accomplish their goal.”

The sessions exposed the officers to different practices aimed at carbon offsetting, case studies of on-ground application of the process and applicable situations.

“We have a larger responsibility to carry out our proceedings efficiently.” said Lt Col Dr Tamim Al Haj, director of Dubai Police. “Hence, it is very important for us to find means to mitigate our carbon footprint while going through our routine activities, such as patrolling and ensuring our buildings and offices are low-carbon emitting.”

He said that the partnership between Dubai Police and Dubai Carbon will contribute to the sustainable and green growth of the UAE’s economy, enabling the growth of green trade and investment in regional markets.
