Dams collect more than 20m gallons of water after heavy rain in the UAE

About 83.2 million litres of rainwater have been collected in dams across the country after heavy rain this week.

Sultan Alwan, the assistant undersecretary for water resources and nature conservation at the Ministry of Water and Environment, said the largest amount of rainfall, 53.6mm, was reported in Rakna station, while Khatam Al Shakla station, near the border of Oman, recorded 51.4mm.

Moderate rain was reported in the central and northern regions, with the highest amounts (51.44mm) noted by Sharjah Airport station and Jebel Jais station (46.8mm).

Light rainfall was also reported in Fujairah and Khor Fakkan.
