ABU DHABI // The Regulation and Supervision Bureau is calling on residents and businesses across the emirate to conserve water and electricity in the face of growing demands for the resources.
The bureau has been leading an emirate-wide campaign, with Al Ain Distribution Company and the Abu Dhabi Distribution Company, to encourage better use of water and electricity.
The goal of the campaign is to raise awareness of the issue, dispel misconceptions about water conservation and encourage a change in behaviour in businesses and individuals.
“Electricity and drinking water are critical to Abu Dhabi’s development,” said Rashed Al Rashedi, deputy director general of the bureau.
According to Mr Rashedi, the bureau’s ultimate aim was to develop a culture of water and electricity conservation that used existing supplies more efficiently, and to have its goals realised by businesses and members of the public.
“Apart from regulating the supply of these resources, we are very much focusing on consumption as well. Our ongoing research and pilot projects show that we can all conserve more, and everyone will benefit in the process.”
