98,000 fingerlings released into Sharjah waters

SHARJAH // Some 98,000 black sea-bream fingerlings were released into the creek by Al Hamriya Municipality.

The young fish were released in collaboration with the Sheikh Khalifa Centre for Maritime Research, as part of a plan to multiply fish species between March and May 2016.

Some 95,000 king fish fingerlings having been released in March, reported Aletihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National.

Mubarak Al Shamsi, director of Al Hamriya Municpality, praised the release, adding that the initiative is part of an environmental move to enrich marine life.

The municipality will also be releasing turtles on Al Hamriya beach in collaboration with the Sharjah Aquarium.
