An Emirati girl suffered serious injuries in a bicycle accident in Ras Al Khaimah at the weekend.
The 14-year-old girl was riding the bike in the Awafi area she fell on Friday at around 2pm, Arabic language newspaper Al Khaleej reported.
Her hand had to be amputated as a result of her injuries.
She initially treated at Saqr hospital, before being airlifted to another hospital while her hand was preserved in ice for possible reconstruction.
No further details were available on Sunday.

When to go: You can climb Kili at any time of year, but the best months to ascend are January-February and September-October. Also good are July and August, if you’re tolerant of the colder weather that winter brings.
Do not underestimate the importance of kit. Even if you’re travelling at a relatively pleasant time, be geared up for the cold and the rain.
