An Emirati teenager who stabbed a school pupil in the waist in a fight over a girl has been sentenced to six months in prison.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the 19-year-old and two of his friends confronted the victim at a shopping mall on April 20.
Demanding to know which school he attended, the gang ordered the teenager to accompany them outside onto the street.
Once there, the Emirati defendant pulled out a knife and stabbed the teenager. The victim ran back into Dubai Mall before collapsing.
Police launched an investigation into the incident and were able to identify the attackers via CCTV footage.
The trio admitted the fight was over a girl but no further details were given in court.
The victim is understood to have been rushed to hospital although the full extent of his injuries was not made clear.
Last month, the 19-year-old Emirati failed to enter a plea against a charge of attempted murder.
His two co-accused, both aged under 18, were referred to Dubai Juvenile Court.
