An 21-year-old Emirati man was attacked by 10 masked men with knives and a stun gun in Al Qaraen area in Sharjah last week.

The medical report from Al Qassimi Hospital, where he was taken for treatment, showed that he sustained fractures and broken bones in his right foot, a deep cut in his right hand and a deep cut in his abdomen that required surgery.

In a statement to Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of The National, JMS, the victim, said he was playing cards with six friends at 1.30 am when the attackers came at them with weapons and stun guns. His friends were able to escape into the house, but he could not catch up.

The victim said he does not know why he was attacked and that his attackers were actually after someone else.

The man’s father reported the incident to Sharjah Police.
