DUBAI // An Emirates flight had to make an unscheduled diversion due to a medical issue on a journey to New York.
Flight EK203 was travelling to John F Kennedy International Airport from Dubai International Airport on Wednesday, a spokeswoman for the airline said.
It then diverted to Gander International Airport, in Newfoundland, Canada, before resuming its flight to the US.
“Emirates flight EK203 from Dubai to JFK was diverted to Gander [in] Newfoundland, Canada due to a sick passenger,” the spokeswoman said.
“Upon arrival in Gander the passenger was met by local medical staff. Flight EK203 then departed Gander two hours after landing and continued on its journey to New York’s JFK airport.”
Emirates said it apologised for any inconvenience.
