Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ruler of Ajman, has ordered the release of 62 prisoners ahead of Eid Al Adha.

The prisoners demonstrated good conduct during their sentences, state news agency Wam reported.

It is customary for ruling sheikhs to pardon hundreds of prisoners across the country for Eid Al Adha.

At Eid Al Fitr, Sheikh Humaid released 124 inmates.

On Friday, the President Sheikh Khalifa ordered the release of 515 prisoners.

Sheikh Al Nuaimi expressed his best wishes to the prisoners.

Lt Gen Sultan Al Nuaimi, commander-in-chief of the Ajman Police, praised the release, which “aims to bring happiness and ensure social cohesion”.

He added that procedures for the prisoners' release will be initiated immediately.
