From sewing machines to food parcels handed out during Ramadan, needy families in Egypt are to benefit from a project between the country’s ministry of local development and Al Maktoum Charity Foundation.

Both bodies signed the deal yesterday, the state news agency Wam reported.

Sixty sewing machines will be handed out and 1,000 food parcels distributed.

Maj Gen Adel Labib, the Egyptian minister of local development, signed the deal alongside Mirza Al Sayegh, chairman of the board of trustees of Al Maktoum Foundation.

Mr Al Sayegh passed on the greetings of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance and patron of the foundation, to those in attendance.
