Emirati students were guests at a banquet hosted by the Chinese ambassador in Abu Dhabi on their return to the UAE after a tour of his country.
Those enrolled in the UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme shared their experiences at the residence of Chang Hua, ambassador of China to the UAE.
They visited cities, scientific institutions and others places of economic interest in China during a recent tour to help their education and learn about cultural aspects of the country.
In his speech, the ambassador welcomed the youngsters and praised relations and close cooperation between the UAE and China. The Chinese envoy expressed his appreciation for the UAE’s leadership, Government and people.
The UAE Youth Ambassadors Programme was launched in 2012 in a bid to strengthen links between cultures and civilisations.
Science students taking part in the project found the trip of great importance, as it focused on technological and scientific developments in China and their relevance to development in the UAE.
The Chinese tour followed similar trips to South Korea and Germany, where students learnt about language and culture to help strengthen ties with those countries.
The number of students who completed the UAE Youth Ambassadors’ Programmes for 2014 and 2015 was 122.
An advanced programme launched last year included training for students at major companies and discussions with business leaders.
