SHARJAH // The Children’s Reading Festival is set to begin in Sharjah next month.
The ninth edition of the 11-day family event starts on April 19 and will bring together some of the world’s best children’s authors to read their popular works to their fans at Sharjah Expo Centre.
The festival will host more than 1,500 shows and activities that are each specifically designed to encourage reading by either children or adults. Workshops will be conducted to reinforce children’s talents in the scientific, literary and artistic fields.
Ahmed Al Ameri, chairman of Sharjah Book Authority, said the emirate has succeeded in instilling a culture of reading in people of all ages, due to the numerous initiatives and events held, including the Children’s Reading Festival.
The festival will feature a rich programme of entertaining and educational events that combine the latest technology and visual arts to unlock and nurture the skills of children and young adults.
