DUBAI // To help create a culture of learning, teachers, students and parents are being asked to share what their schools are doing to boost positivity for the next 100 days.
Launched on Tuesday, the #100DaysOfPositivity initiative, designed by the National Programme for Happiness and Positivity and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai, aims to help schools impart positive education.
Schools are invited to do something positive every day for 100 days and share it on Twitter and Instagram using the hashtag.
Dubai English Speaking College is the first to join the programme.
“Our aim is to support and grow the practices that will encourage children to have more positive habits and lead happier lives,” said Ohood Al Roumi, Minister of State for Happiness.
“We have seen that students are keen to discover and learn from what positive education can give them. The leadership of the UAE is committed to promoting positive thinking and behaviour, and we rely on the cooperation of the whole community to make this part of our everyday lives.
“We are happy to partner with KHDA to see positive education become an embedded part of each school’s approach. Through #100DaysOfPositivity, we look forward to seeing the examples of positivity and happiness which teachers, students and schools will share.
The #100DaysOfPositivity initiative brings together all the positive practices that are being lived and learnt in Dubai every day and share them with the local community, said Dr Abdulla Al Karam, Director-General of KHDA.
“We know that through initiatives like ‘What Works’ school leaders and teachers are already reaching the hearts as well as the minds of students. #100DaysOfPositivity will build on these strong foundations. It’s a pleasure to collaborate with the Happiness Office on a project which is so close to our hearts. We hope what starts with #100DaysofPositivity will continue into a lifetime of happiness.”
Ms Al Roumi or Dr Al Karam will visit schools that share images, text messages or videos using the hashtag, reported Wam, the state news agency.
