The Burj Khalifa lightshow that dazzled spectators on New Year's Eve will be run nightly until March, organisers have said. More than one million people are believed to have been in the Downtown Dubai area for the performance on Monday night. It was accompanied by the return of the dazzling fireworks display, which was absent last year. The pyrotechnics were put together by a team of over 40 professionals, and over 250 experts worked on the laser and light show. The developer Emaar said the the illumination of the façade of Burj Khalifa also earned it two additional Guinness World Records – for the ‘Largest LED-illuminated facade’ and the ‘Tallest LED-illuminated facade’. On Tuesday morning, the task of cleaning up the Downtown area was underway after hundreds of thousands of revellers partied overnight.
