Light rain covered many of the emirates on Friday morning as heavy clouds moved across the country.

The National Centre of Meteorology is predicting the possibility of more rainfall in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Al Ain and Fujairah before the end of the weekend.

The lowest temperature in the UAE this morning was 15.8°C, recorded in Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah, at 3.30am.

The wet weather is attributed to recent cloud seeding, resulting in rain and thunder in Abu Dhabi city earlier in the week.

Al Ain, however, experienced more wet weather on Friday.

The UAE recorded unusually heavy rainfall on Wednesday, when downpours lashed the east coast.

At least 27.7 millimetres of rain was recorded at a gauge in Dibba, while 17.1mm fell in nearby Dhadna.

Coming in a close third was Masafi, where 16mm of rain fell.

The UAE typically receives about 100mm of rain a year, on average.

The wet weather came after a milder than usual winter with long periods of sunshine.

More rain and dusty weather is forecast for the rest of the weekend.
