DUBAI // A detainee who refused to have sex with several fellow prisoners was assaulted and needed two operations to save his life, the Dubai Criminal Court heard on Sunday.
The 20-year-old Emirati victim, H E, said that on the night of November 2, 2013, while he was at the prison at Al Qusais police station, he was approached by other detainees.
When he rebuffed their sexual demands, he said, they assaulted him.
He said that there were 11 detainees involved and that they stripped him naked then sprayed his body with hot water, Dettol and urine before shaving his head.
For nearly three hours, the men assaulted H E to the extent that he “fell to the ground and felt nothing”.
H E lost three teeth and suffered a broken jaw, a deep cut in his head as well as many other wounds.
At Rashid Hospital he twice faced surgery and remained in hospital for 15 days. He was left with permanent disability in his left ear and his jaw.
Defendants F S, 21 and H M, 24, of the Comoros Islands, Omani S A, 30, Emirati N A, 30, Iranian H M M, 21, and A H, 40, stateless, all face charges of assault and causing permanent disability. The next hearing will be on March 8.
