Patients in government hospitals in Dubai will soon have touch-screen bedside units to keep them entertained while they recover.

Dubai Health Authority’s touch-screen Bed and Patient Entertainment system will enable them to watch TV, videos, access the internet, video chat, play games and opt for videos and movies on demand.

Patients can also use the screen to control the room lights, order a meal, request the laundry service and view hospital information.

“Hospital stays can sometimes be unpleasant for patients of all ages,” said Essa Al Maidoor, director general of DHA, at Gitex. Through the use of technology, we wanted to create a recreational as well as educational environment for patients.”
