DUBAI// The owner of a jewellery company charged with issuing bounced cheques worth Dh34 million will hear a verdict in his case on November 12.
Dubai Court of Misdemeanours rejected a request submitted by MMR’s lawyer to reschedule the hearing in order to reach a settlement with the bank.
MMR, 73, who owns the Atlas Jewellery Group, is accused of writing two bounced cheques dated August 12, 2015, one for Dh4 million and the other for Dh30 million.
He has been in custody since August 24 this year after several requests for bail submitted by his lawyer were rejected. MMR attended his first hearing in October and requested to be set free in order to settle his debts.
